Imaging Research Building Ready The Opus Imaging Research Building Mayo Clinic has been at the forefront of imaging research for well over a decade. Now its research team has a headquarters equal to its standing. The Opus Imaging Research Building is reality thanks to a $7 million gift from the Opus Group and $2.4 million in a rare capital grant from the National Institutes of Health. The research staff is settling in before the dedication planned for September 10. Mayo Adds Hyperbaric ChamberIt was a sunny Saturday in late July when the much-awaited hyperbaric chamber arrived in Rochester from its origins in Brisbane. The ocean and highway journey was smooth, as was the "lift and slide" entry into Rochester Methodist Hospital's Charlton North Building, where the 24-place chamber will be used for altitude research when it's not treating patients with chronic wounds. The hyperbaric facility is named after benefactors Leslie and Susan Gonda of Beverly Hills, CA, in honor of their generous support. CTSA Kicks Off Outreach CTSA Day We had trouble counting the folks in Annenberg Plaza, but we know 3,000 ice cream and fruit bars disappeared rather quickly. The banners, balloons, and jazz band were all part of outreach by Mayo's Center for Translational Science Activities. Community members, civic leaders and Rochester's mayor joined Mayo to celebrate research and encourage greater public participation in clinical and translational research.
